Strain on Israel tech workforce?

Seems like the Israeli tech machine, famous for driving multinational R&D but also increasingly for home-grown tech (mobileye, Wix, etc) is struggling to expand given a slowly-growing tech-savvy employment pool. Multiple factors are cited - small population, lack of interest in tech from ultra-conservatives, competition from Google, Facebook, limited immigration. Curious to see how Israel addresses this.

I remember this also Daniel. I also remember them being viewed as the much more experienced version of India - pool of deep talent (not just bachelor grads), starting with MNCs but also growing their own companies.

Anyone knows if this is easy to apply for a job there from abroad and get a VISA ?

Apparently really difficult. If you check the article, Israel is soon going to begin a pilot to bring in tech foreigners on "a few hundred" work visas per year. But perhaps they might ramp that up?

Probably the high salaries offered in Silicon Valley look attractive. But I bet the shine diminishes a bit once the high costs of living there is factored in. I wonder if there will be a longer term trend towards Israeli tech employees returning home.
