The current patent/copyright system is out of date and behind the times and causing ever more damage as the "Great Acceleration" is changing all the rules and institutional structures we live by. Current education/training/certification systems are all going obsolete at an ever increasing rate and actually causing damage as they don't keep up with the "Great Acceleration" The half life value of IP/knowledge is rapidly declining and the current systems have not adapted to a system that determines their true value and how much protection they deserve. It is time to go to a world wide market based solution if we are not to have ever more serious conflicts that could worst case lead to an extremely dangerous military/cyber/social medial war mix. It is painfully obvious that laws and regulations world wide have not kept up and have actually at the point they foster conflict as evidenced by the Apple/Qualcomm and China/US conflict among others. IP/Data/Social media influence have become the new gold created by the new and ever growing range of soft and hard technologies created on a foundation built by the semi/nanotech industry that has changed everything. This also applies to our internal structure, as this has contributed to a concentration of wealth if it continues will present a whole host of internal problems, such as much of the gig economy that has created what may be become a permanent under class by misclassifying employees as subcontractors that are excluded from many protections and benefits.
Our political/social/commercial/educational systems have fallen behind in their ability to cope with the "Great Acceleration" and the China/US conflict represents a golden opportunity to set a new framework in which all can prosper. It won't be easy, but the two great powers of the world have a difficult, but achievable task before them, with choice being a new golden age for mankind or one of conflicts we can't even imagine.
