AMAT has been leveraging semi IP into solar for a long time and now is taking their technology into batteries with some dramatic advances out soon. Even in solar they are making leaps in achieving 34% plus efficiency for multi junction solar(a Siemens/AMAT joint venture). Combine these two and utilities and our grid face the dramatic shift to decentralized power. I feel the same technology used in semis is going to extend into almost every area of industry over the next ten years. I'm sure there's a lot going on in semi technology and feel this is a good forum subject where many see what isn't recognized by the general media. TSM has done this with solar and leds and probably a few more areas as is AMAT. This is just a start and I hope others can give us the heads up on the leveraging semi IP and technology in this forum.
