Micro robots made using semi manufacturing technology could present a possible mega market for semi fabrication technology and very advanced semis and nanotechnology. This could literally change the world of surgery and is in its very early stages. I expect this to be a mega market with medical expenditures a major part of the world economy and especially large in developed countries. Check the link below. This could be a very fast developing market due to its potential to literally revolutionize surgery and many medical treatments. Micro robots present tremendous potential in many areas and we are just in the very early stages. Are their any thoughts of what companies in the semi industry, might put effort into this field and if not what companies? With the world medical market staggering in size, this could offer a large area for expansion. Any thoughts if we'll see a foundry model grow in this area? Maybe the MEMS companies?

Microscopic robot would use laser pulses to walk through the body
One day microscopic robots could be crawling through your body, clearing out disease or delivering drugs. And now we’re one step closer to that future, as scientists from Cornell University have created tiny robots powered by pulses of laser light.
