[FONT=Theinhardt, Helvetica, sans-serif]I have been following memory technologies for about six years including Crossbar, 3dXpoint, QLC and Automata which is mixing memory and processing and feel the technology of processing and memory are going to much more tightly integrated if not totally combined like Automata. This offers multiples of performance that are going to have a very large impact on everything from AI/ML, automation to autonomous everything. Below is one example that will have dramatic impact on medical if it plays out. This process has reduced the time it takes an MRI from over forty minutes to around four. Utilization is everything in economics and this holds the power to reduce the cost of an MRI by a factor of four when counting setting up the machine and patient. This would dramatically expand what an MRI could be used for and has the power to radically change medical. If this is applied to other medical diagnostic devices and programs that interpret the results, we could actually see a dramatic drop in medical costs if politics and special interests don't get in the way. This same technology could also play a serious part in autonomous automated surgery by speeding up access to the information needed to make it a reality.
Not only in medical, but just about everything could be dramatically impacted by this making other technologies practical on a real time basis. The link below is for reference and any thoughts, comments or ideas are solicited and welcome as to how the progress in memory, storage and processing will be changing on how they interface and impact on various endeavors.
