Leaving the nice steady weather of the SF Bay Area and moving to Sparks Nevada, I have found using the thermal mass of the house has enabled me to keep the utility bills down. I've found keeping the house between 68 to 78 degrees using outside air at appropriate times has enabled to keep my energy consumption in less the half. I wish I had sensors and intelligent systems in the house, attic and crawl space and a system that would tune the air conditioner, attic fan, and outside air ventilation fans at maximum efficiency instead of having to do it all manually. It would also be nice if it could pick up national weather service information for even further savings. Is there any chance of systems like this becoming common place? The energy savings could be dramatic if instituted nation and even worldwide. Any thoughts or comments appreciated, especially if there is such a system out there.
