How long until robotic research labs take the lead and the consequences?

With AI/ML advancing at a rapid pace, it may already be that robotic research labs can out produce and out create not only human labs, but even business processes far faster than any human driven enterprise. This could be the ultimate disruptor of everything. Any thoughts or additions with possible time lines would be appreciated. AI/ML combined with automation will be the ultimate disruptors in everything and in some areas it's already here. The next five years may prove the beginning of the most disruptive time in human history and a speed once considered unimaginable. Any thoughts, comments or additions to this thesis sought and welcomed.
