Yesterday when I read Xiaomi Mi4c announcement with great features like leading processor, Edge Tap, USB Type-C, quick charge etc. apart from other usual but high-end features like camera, display, memory etc. at a price band of just $200 - $235, I investigated the Snapdragon 808 processor specs which Mi4c claimed to have.
It's Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 (without any heating problems) inside Mi4c that makes it great!
View attachment 15407It's with dual-core ARM Cortex A57 CPU, Andreno 418 GPU, X10 LTE modem, multi-mode receiver, Hexagon V56 DSP, BT, Wi-Fi, GPS, 4K Ultra HD display, Quick charge and more. The SoC has been tested not to have any heating problem.
If this can make Xiaomi profitable with a high-end type smartphone selling at $200+ then Qualcomm can easily compete with Intel SoC in ASUS ZenFone 2 selling in the similar price range. The battle ground is first China, India, and then rest of geo.
I checked another high-end smartphone LG G4 that also has Snapdragon 808 and sells in the price range of $600+. There are other smartphones expected to come out with Snapdragon 808. Does that provide an edge for Qualcomm to bring up its QCT division?
