In the realm of technologies for the here and now (as opposed to, say, driverless cars), Google seems to be getting serious about being a broadband player. They have launched in Kansas City, Austin, and Provo, and promised in Atlanta, Nashville, Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte, San Antonio, and Salt Lake City. Chicago and L.A., Phoenix, San Diego, Irvine, San Jose, Jacksonville, Tampa, Oklahoma City, Louisville, and Portland are next up on the list of potentials.
