Examining Semiconductor Manufacturing Capacities: Why is Taiwan Behind Singapore

Dear Experts,

I have a question regarding the global fab capacity in the semiconductor industry. According to data published by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) in their 2021 Factbook, Taiwan's wafer capacity in 2020 was 9.7%, whereas Singapore's was 18.3%. Given Taiwan's reputation as a stronghold of semiconductor manufacturing with several major players, I am puzzled as to why Taiwan's figure is lower than Singapore's. Could anyone provide some insights?

The graph is for the fabs owned by US semiconductor companies in various countries, including US.

According to the graph, I understand the majority of U.S. manufacturing activity is concentrated in design and R&D. However, it's puzzling to me that Singapore surpasses Taiwan in terms of fab capacity.

This is US HQ companies.

GlobalFoundries have multiple Fabs in Singapore and Micron have Fab here also.
Avago have Fab , HP still have Fab here also RF360 which is part of Qualcomm have Fab here

Which US HQ Company got Fab in Taiwan?

Majority of Micron's DRAM are produced in Taiwan.

"In 2020, about 43 percent of U.S.-headquartered firms’ front-end semiconductor wafer capacity was located in the United States. Other leading locations for U.S. headquartered front-end semiconductor wafer fab capacity were Singapore, Taiwan, Europe, and Japan."
Somehow they don't count Apple's using TSMC for all of their FE fabbery. Good PPT theme. Bad report.
