I have not read the report yet but believe me it is coming. And whoever rules AI will rule the world, absolutely:

Eric Schmidt on AI: 'Trust me, these Chinese people are good'

Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Google parent company Alphabet, has warned that China is poised to overtake the US in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) if the US government doesn't act soon. Speaking at the Artificial Intelligence and Global Security Summit on Wednesday, the former Google CEO said: "Trust me, these Chinese people are good." He added: "They are going to use this technology for both commercial as well as military objectives with all sorts of implications." China published its AI strategy in July and said that it wanted to be the world leader in AI by 2030. "It's pretty simple," said Schmidt, who claims to have read the report. "By 2020 they will have caught up. By 2025 they will be better than us. And by 2030 they will dominate the industries of AI. Just stop for a sec. The [Chinese] government said that."

The rest of the world better wake up and realize we have a formidable competitor who plays by a set of rules that is totally foreign to us. Understanding this is just a starting point for us to have a chance. First we must become good negotiators and develop strategies to either protect or profit from our efforts. Anyone looking at these decisions should take into account the vastly different cultures of world. With totally foreign concepts of physical and intellectual property rights compared to our freedoms from expression, thought process, organizational and creative financing that we should use to our advantage to recruit their best and brightest and further develop our own talent with an open minded, outside the box style that they haven't come close to perfecting yet. This is not just about the Chinese culture, but the rest of the cultures of the world. Reading extensive science fiction has given me an edge for I have had a close, inside look at any culture one could imagine and how many of these interfaced with each other.
