Cyber-Physical System

Recently Cyber-Physical System (CPS) is getting lot of attention in government agencies (NIST, NSF, etc) and DoD contractors. Cyber-Physical System is broadly defined as integration of computation, networking, and physical processes. It goes well beyond today's "embedded systems".

CPS is identified by government's S&T as one of the seven priority areas. A report prepared by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) says - the future application of CPS are more transformative than the IT revolution of the past three decades.

Who are players in this field? I noticed a few companies, Mathwork and National Instruments, having Cyber-Physical system in their portfolio. What are the applications and market in the commercial world?
