Bluetooth woes - Garmin and Samsung

Daniel Payne

Moderator
As an avid cyclist I expect to pedal some 10,000 miles this year to stay fit and I've always been fascinated by the numbers provided by bike computers. I recently upgraded from a CatEye Stealth 50 bike computer to the 2X more expensive Garmin 520 model, mostly because it promised to give me live updates of Strava segments while riding. The problem is that the Garmin 520 communicates by Bluetooth to my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phone, but it isn't working properly.

I can connect my Garmin 520 to other devices in my household, like:

  • HTC One M7
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 mini
  • iPad Air

I've spent a couple of hours with Garmin on their tech support phone line, and they have created a ticket for me, so I wait for a possible fix. You can read more details on the Garmin support forums.

Odd thing is that my Note 4 uses Bluetooth every day when paired with two different Plantronic headsets, or MacBook Pro laptop.
