With IBM putting processing in memory as I have previously posted and 3dXpoint ramping up, could Automata be a reality at least in the lab? Does anyone have an idea what the yield curve is for 3dXpoint? Is one of the goals of 3dXpoint its use in Automata? What about TSM and InFo packaging memory with a processor as a form of Automata? Any thoughts, comments and even opinions at this point appreciated. I can't see efforts of this size and scale unless something is there.

3D Xpoint is a non volatile memory, and not related to Automata. Don't know if there was a plan to use the technologies together, but not even related products/ideas.
Dougwithau, they are unrelated, but could work well together according to sources I have checked with and just because Micron has spun off the technology doesn't mean they aren't considering using it in the future or have spun it off in the interest of providing increased protection of IP. I haven't been able to find out about the legal agreements made in the separation. All we can do at this is make educated guesses at this point.
