ARM and UCL launch IoT Education Kit

Don Dingee

Moderator
ARM has announced a partnership with University College London (UCL) in hopes of "firing up" IoT engineering. UCL will be rolling out the ARM IoT Education Kit this September in a week-long module for post-graduate EE and continuing professional development students, with hopes of extending the program to undergraduates in 2016.

The IoT Education Kit is based on ARM's mbed environment, and includes an mbed board from Nordic Semiconductor (no specifics, but presumably the Nordic nRF51822-mKIT or similar) and software licenses along with teaching materials. The ultimate aim of the kit is to encourage STEM students, even at the university level, to stay in the field when they move into the workplace. The IoT is seen as an exciting and sustainable opportunity to engage students.
