AI/ML and Extreme Automation, The US should lead

Arthur Hanson

Being the birthplace of of modern technologies from the railroads, highways, aircraft and numerous other technologies, it's time for the US to take the lead in cutting edge automation. Already for a number of years the US has plants that operate dark with limited human interaction with some even putting the finished products on the loading dock. It's past time for the US to raise the competitive bar to a higher level for our economic progress in everything from medical to farming to manufacturing. Silicon Valley and our tech industries that are now almost everywhere enable us to raise the worldwide competitive bar to a level that allows us to maintain our economy, lifestyle and retain and even improve our current environment. It's time for the US to lead the next stage of the tech revolution by learning and applying the technologies we have now and adapt to where it's going in the future. If the US doesn't adapt to this change, our competitor's will catch up and one day we will wake up to a second-class economy. This should also be applied to medical where the US has high costs and low quality that if not corrected will relegate the US to a second-class economy. With AI/ML most can't even imagine how far we could take this trend in which the US could be the leader, but the choice is ours. This trend could make all previous tech trends look small. The opportunities this trend offers are literally beyond the imagination of most. Any thoughts, comments or expansions on this issue appreciated.
