The launch of a low cost India wide high speed wireless data network has the power to not only help India, but help the world. It will be interesting to see the effects of giving a smart, hard working, driven people an entry into the modern world on a country wide scale. It will be the first time in history that a large number of people are given fully modern communications in the space of about a year. It will be possible to see what results that a fully modern network can bring when implemented in such a short time frame and not from other causes. This is one gigantic experiment so to speak and we will soon see the results and benefits that can be attributed to the rapid advancement of the semi industry.
If the higher speed data rates for cell phone use are consumed by people playing more games like Pokemon Go, then there will be little intellectual or business advancement in India. On the other hand, if it spurs more App developers in India then it could be of some benefit.
Daniel, that's exactly why I called it an experiment. It could be anything from an economic tectonic shift, to largely wasted on inconsequential uses.
Time will tell and this is one huge experiment, of which I'm waiting to see the results. The results will definitely play a part in my investment decisions.
While I take your point, who is to say what uses enhance the lives of others? Intellectual and business uses are great, but health, fitness, entertainment, and social applications also have their places, and serve as interpersonal connections, as well as platforms for relaxation and wellness.
