When will AI/ML become a serious weapon of war?

AI/ML will become a serious weapon of war and I have doubt it is already on this path. Combined with software warfare, this will open entire new fronts that even most military strategists have not taken seriously yet. The leverage AI/ML warfare offers are to be too tempting for the major and minor powers to overlook. Any thoughts how this new front is being developed appreciated.

This is BAE Brimstone missile:

It's an eighties era technology, with a computer slower than a pocket calculator today (which most use MCUs by now). It already can detect moving, and stationary targets, classify, and discriminate them, fly in different formations, and distribute targets autonomously in a salvo many kilometres away. What else does one need for a weapon?

Texas Instruments Javelin is an even more primitive tech, but it can navigate onto a blob of infrared emissions by video recognition, and inertial navigation, discern debris, fly a complex trajectory, and etc, a single soldier only needs to press a few buttons for would've been previously a year long gunnery training at a minimum.

Those "autonomous" drones used in Ukraine, they are far more complex, but they don't do anything extraordinary: 1. fly in a pattern, 2. lock on a first group of pixels moving relative to the rest of the image, 3. home on it
