Position Overview

As an Electrical Test Engineer, you will develop test structures and ensure efficiency and quality of electrical equipment and systems. You will also understand the needs of the projects you’re working on, troubleshoot errors, and conduct tests and examinations, among others. You will commonly work with a variety of equipment, including but not limited to oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, etc.

Electrical test engineers use their knowledge of electronics and engineering principles to design and implement tests that verify the performance of these components and systems. This may include anything from simple checks of basic functionality to more complex evaluations of performance under various conditions or scenarios.

 

Essential Job Functions

Designing test fixtures
Bringing ideas from napkin to PCB, with schematic capture and PCB layout
Create controlled tests
Custom test programs
Operate Reliability equipment and environmental chambers to include temperature cycling, XRF, CSAM, HAST and HTOL tests.
Devise voltage Biasing and current monitoring on jobs
Set up burn in drivers, programmed drivers and test BI Boards
Bench test boards and hardware
Ensure ESD and traveler compliance in the Lab.
Oversee workflow, processes, resources, and engineering for Spirit’s in-house test lab
Plan, implement, and monitor QMS programs and procedures in collaboration with quality team
Drive operational improvements to support business growth while prioritizing projects and resources
Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical and organizational skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on team building

Requirements

Experience with electrical test of semiconductors, passives and discrete components using test equipment, bench set up rack and stack, power supplies, curve tracers, high pot testers, etc.
Experience with MIL STD 883 screening and qualification and the process that are included in the spec ie. Temp cycle, HAST, HTRB, Burn In, 85/85, solder exchange, XRF, CSAM, PIND, etc.
Experience with temperature stressing of parts at military specification for extended periods of time.
Electrical characterization of parts
Experience reading electrical data sheets for EEE components and interpreting the parameters for test
Electronics experience. Use of Bench test apparatus, Oscilloscope, Power supplies, Logic Analyzers, Good analytical and hardware troubleshooting background.
Experience with non-destructive testing a plus.
Experience with Burn-in Board Drivers and programming desirable.
Experience in Reliability stress techniques.
Experience with National Instruments, LabVIEW a Plus.
Experience with Mil. Std 883 and JEDEC stress tests, environmental testing and flows a must.
Familiarity with AEC and other test standards.
Experience

Operating Reliability Equipment 2 years (Required)
Electronics component testing 2 years (Required)
Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 quality management standards
MS Office applications (strength in EXCEL is a plus)
5-7 years of experience in reliability engineering
Associates or higher in Science or Electrical Engineering preferred
JD Edwards/Oracle or other ERP software experience
