SUMMARY

Thus, through our enriching intern program, we help develop the next-generation of engineers and technologists. Co-ops alternate between school and full-time work assignments each semester. You will develop our industry-leading simulation software while gaining real experience in your field of study. Each semester builds upon the foundational learning that prepares you for more advanced problem solutions. In this Co-op, you will support the Mechanical Business Unit. This is a 40-hour per week paid position starting January 2023 and ending in April 2023.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting the team in some or all the following areas:

  • Gather, organize, read, and analyze technical information, concepts, programs, and existing product information from various sources to document new or changing product functionality.
  • Write, format, and proof technical information for technical and non-technical users.
  • Define logical steps to perform required functions on software products.
  • Create graphic aides, figures, or charts within documents.
  • Produce video “how-to” topics using Camtasia or similar video creation software.
  • Prepare and complete work adhering to project goals and schedules.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by preparing product information that is useful, accurate, and user friendly.
  • Interact with personnel from technical departments to resolve usability issues and information discrepancies.
  • Ensure that all product information is reviewed and approved following quality assurance procedures.
  • Other job-related duties that may be assigned by management from time to time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the co-op program.
  • Candidate must provide a writing sample as part of the application process.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Sharp and tenacious problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Team player, responsible, and motivated.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Sophomore or Junior pursuing a Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical degree.
  • Experience with technical writing or writing of other published works, including blogs, journals, literary magazines, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages.
  • Exposure to engineering simulation software (i.e., ANSYS).
  • Experience with CAMTASIA or other video-editing software.
  • Exposure to XML, HTML, and/or DocBook mark-up languages.
