As Software Engineer Smart Sensing Solutions (f/m/d) you will be part of a highly qualified team in an international environment (including Germany, USA, China, Portugal) with strong networking within and outside the Siemens Group. The position offers you professional insights into various domains and projects: from industrial automation to railway technology to smart grids and smart cities as well as healthcare. Furthermore, Siemens AG offers flexible working time models with home office options as well as a wide range of training courses and there are many medium to long-term development opportunities within the Siemens Group.

What part will you play?

Sensors and sensor systems are key components in all technical systems. They provide data and information about the operating status of the system and its environment. In addition to miniaturization and system integration, important trends in this area are new sensor principles with their own sensor intelligence, data pre-processing “at the edge” and intelligent data evaluation in combination with artificial intelligence.

  • With your excellent knowledge in the field of software development, you will work on innovative sensing solutions for our internal and external customers to give them competitive advantages
  • You have a good sense of disruptive trends and innovations; you like to observe new developments in the industrial and academic environment and you enjoy driving topics within national and international funded projects
  • You are highly familiar with state-of-the-art open source and industrial software components
  • Evaluate and apply new technologies and software & you bring your own ideas and implement them in the projects.
  • The realization of demonstrators and prototypes is also part of your area of responsibility
  • Support an open and collaborative work culture in our international project team
  • You appreciate intensive communication and close cooperation with internal and external project partners from the Siemens sectors, but also with external customers, universities, and institutes

What you need to make real what matters.

  • You have successfully completed your masters in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics or engineering
  • You are an advanced expert in software engineering with 1-2 years of experience in the design and implementation of software systems in Python, GoLang and/or C/C++, ideally with IoT and edge systems based on Linux Operating systems, using Docker and Docker Compose
  • Proven track record of contributing to research and development in the areas of IoT systems and applications
  • Good knowledge in sensors, sensing systems, data analysis, machine learning and AI
  • Well versed in the open-source culture and associated code sharing platforms (e.g. GitHub, GitLab)
  • You love working with highly motivated teams bringing in your own ideas and strengths
  • Very good German and English skills complete your profile
