Senior Prototype Model Maker/Quick-turn NPI Machinist

Keysight Santa Rosa has an opening for a Senior Protype Model Maker & NC Programmer.

As a Model Maker, your job is to work in our Precision Mesoscale Technology Center providing prototype parts, custom tooling, as well as other parts, to a wide Keysight customer base. Must be able to produce parts which meet customer’s requirements and specifications, as well as working as a team with the customer engineer(s) to identify DFM opportunities. Ability to quickly produce prototypes from a “napkin sketch” design, all the way to a fully annotated 3D body with 2D drawing.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Capable of standing at a machine for extended periods of time
• Ability to use computers and manufacturing software
• Capable of safely lifting 40 lbs.

• Effective and safe use of Model Shop equipment and materials to fabricate components, prototypes, fixtures, etc., from a sketch, 2D drawing, and/or 3D solid model.
• Work with complex, tight tolerance parts
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and files, including GD&T proficiency
• Ability to setup and operate both manual, and CNC machines, mills, lathes, etc.
• Experience and knowledge in secondary operations such as deburring, polishing, heat-treating, surface grinding, etc.
• Journeyman with a minimum of 7 years sustained experience in directly related positions and activities. Technical Degree, specialized training/certificate or equivalent experience.
• Strong mathematical and troubleshooting skills
• Strong working background using CAD and CAM software. Siemen’s NX CAD & CAM proficiency strongly preferred.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of assignments, and complete tasks thoroughly, accurately, and on-time
• Ability to quickly deliver prototypes, as well as develop stable production processes
• Desire experience with ultra-high precision 5-axis milling machines, especially utilizing Heidenhain controls
• Activities organized and aligned with company goals and objectives
• Demonstrates flexibility, willingness to reprioritize activities to support and meet customer needs
• Demonstrates good judgement and decision-making skills
• Maintain a neat, organized work area and equipment, in a clean environment, and following all company safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with other Model Makers to troubleshoot issues
• Perform other duties as assigned
