We are looking for a passionate and innovative Package Design Engineer who is ready to forge ahead deploying a variety of package technologies to address exciting products in various end markets. You will be involved in the decision-making process in selecting the appropriate package types and be able to provide inputs as the die is being defined. You will be expected to handle design and layout tasks and manage package design and development projects assigned to you. Efforts will include coordinating prototype builds and coordinating qualification. You will also be responsible for planning the ramp up to production, and for all sustaining activities required on high volume production of the product

 What You’ll Do

  • Customer interface through the Sales group to assist in defining optimum packages for specific SoC applications.
  • Work closely with internal IP teams to define and provide package guidelines during product design as well for TC design support.
  • Responsible for Package development – to include hand-on or contracted layout effort in the design of high-density packages, SI/PI analysis of design, and reviews and acceptance of a wide spectrum of packages: Flip-chip, BGA, WLCSP, CSP, 2.5D, D2D, MCM and leadframe based products
  • Coordinate Assembly activities from prototype builds through production to end-of-life, with emphasis on quality, yields, cycle time & cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with assembly subcontractors regarding process control & improvements, failure analysis, qualification, and documentation.
  • Develop systems and infrastructure to support and guarantee first pass package design success for products and leading-edge interconnect IPs

What You’ll Need

  • BS/MS EE, ME or Material Science
  • 4-7 years’ experience in package development and assembly support environment.
  • Knowledge and exposure to high-speed design – including design requirements and design quality assessment using SI/PI tools. Familiar with Cadence Package design tools
  • Broad experience in Assembly Manufacturing support – Should be familiar with coordinating and working with offshore based CM/OSATs
  • Familiar with Office suite of products – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
