The CHERI Alliance
Memory safety issues are the root cause of 70% of cyberattacks, which cause more than $10 trillion of damage worldwide, each year. We need to stop this.
Initially created via a joint research project between SRI international and Cambridge University, CHERI (Capability Hardware Enhanced RISC Instructions) extends conventional hardware Instruction-Set Architectures (ISAs) with new architectural memory protection features to address memory vulnerabilities in programming languages such as C and C++.
As an independent non-profit organization, the CHERI Alliance is on a mission to unite industry leaders, system developers and security experts to drive and promote CHERI as an efficient security standard.
Through building out the CHERI Alliance we aim to not only promote cybersecurity, but increase technical alignment, compliance and adoption of CHERI, as well as the ongoing education and support of the wider processor security community and ecosystem.
