Overview

  • The Production Planner is responsible for developing and implementing effective production plans to ensure efficient operations and on-time delivery of products.
  • They work closely with various departments, including manufacturing, procurement, and logistics, to optimise production processes and meet customer demands.
  • The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key tasks

  • Coordinate with sales, marketing and engineering teams to understand customer demands and incorporate them into production plans.
  • Analyse production capacity, resource availability, and lead times to determine optimal production schedules.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components needed for production.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet changing demands or resolve production issues.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks, constraints, and inefficiencies in production processes to improve overall productivity.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of production plans, including bills of materials, production orders, and work instructions.
  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production planning, such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and production cycle times.
  • Collaborate with logistics team to coordinate transportation and delivery schedules to meet customer requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement process improvements to optimise production planning and increase operational efficiency.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to production planning.

Skills and experience

  • Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles.
  • Previous experience of working as a Planner in a high volume production/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong skills and experience using Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot independently.
  • Has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and is able to quickly adapt to any schedule changes required to meet customer demands.
  • Effective communication both verbal and written and interpersonal skills.
  • Accuracy with attention to details.
  • Experience of using MES and ERP systems
