Fantastic Opportunity for a Hardware or Software Engineer to work in the Architecture & Technology Group at Arm’s Headquarters in Cambridge This is an opportunity to contribute to the core development and publication of the Arm architecture, which is used in billions of Arm CPUs!

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work on the development of the products for the Arm Architecture including manuals, architecture models and tooling to enable the production and maintenance of various architecture components. The role will also involve validation of the architecture using architecture models. You will be working closely with architects, product owners, technical leads, engineering teams and technical writers. The candidate will gain insight and have input into the development of ARM’s future CPU architectures.

This role will suit someone who is a pro-active analytical person with a strong commitment to quality in a high-performance dynamic environment.

What I will be accountable for:
– Contribution to the design and development of Arm architecture products (authored and machine-readable architecture specifications, models, and necessary testing/validation) and the tooling for their delivery and publication.
– Work within the architecture group to evaluate the viability of future architectures.
– Work to ensure that architecture specifications are unambiguous and complete.
– Working closely with Arm architects, project managers, technical writers, and the wider team to plan and those products and transfer knowledge to them.
– Assist in review and maintenance of ARM’s architecture reference manuals and other externally facing documentation.
– Taking ownership of planning and delivering of various architecture products to internal and external partners.

What skills, experience, and qualifications do I need?

A successful candidate will be flexible, with a variety of skills and a commitment to extend the breadth and depth of their knowledge.

Essential skills/experience:
– Bachelors (BS) or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Electronic or Electrical Engineering. Degrees in other areas will be considered if the applicant has relevant experience.
– Understanding of processor architecture and the interaction between software and hardware.
– Experience of scripting languages such as Python.
– Experience with modern practices and processes for software tooling, testing, and delivery. Also, configuration management tools, for example git, etc.
– Enthusiasm for growing technical knowledge and working cross-functionally.
– Ability to understand and communicate difficult technical concepts
– Excellent language skills in English orally and written. Strong presentation skills are important.
– You are dedicated and self-motivated, and have a strong interest in taking solutions forward.

Desired skills/experience:
– Exposure to Arm Architecture and Arm assembly is desirable
– Experience in writing software models is desirable
– Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in the face of dynamic project requirements
– Understanding of file formats and markup language such as JSON, XML, markdown etc.is desirable, but not mandatory
– Experience of dealing with customers and product delivery
– Understanding of tools related to documentation generation or publishing is desirable.
