Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in both an office and plant environment. While in the plant, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and areas containing chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate. This is a full-time exempt position requiring at least 40 hours per week, with hours of work and days scheduled determined by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This position requires minimal travel.

Physical and non-physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee spends time sitting at a desk, however the employee is frequently required to stand for periods of time and walk out to the manufacturing area to work on projects. Prolonged periods of concentration and focus are required along with an outgoing personality and the ability to deal with stress of time constraints. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. When not required to travel away from the facility, this position requires regular and consistent attendance at the facility.

  • Applicable experience in metal coating, electro plating and electroless plating
  • Gold and Nickel plating experience a plus

Required education:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in engineering or other sciences

The Precision Meso-scale Technology Center (PMTC) exists to provide high precision mechanical solutions that enable the capabilities of Keysight’s industry leading electronic measurement equipment.

This individual shall support the manufacturing operations, customer needs and P&L objectives of Keysight Technologies by contributing to the development, maintenance and improvement of manufacturing processes as required. This includes process design and optimization, cost estimation, fixture procurement, machine selection and installation. This individual will be expected to utilize advanced engineering principles and business skills.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Know and follow internal Design Control procedures and all applicable guidelines when working with metal deposition processes that manufacture precision components
  • Manufacturing process design and development, including machine selection and location, required fixtures and tooling.
  • Create and maintain process specifications, manufacturing department layouts (2D CAD), routings, and manufacturing work instructions as well as the creation of specification documents.
  • Create and maintain tooling and fixture specifications, including 3D CAD models of tools and fixtures. Direct Engineering Services in the creation of detail drawings. Work with internal model shop and external suppliers in the procurement and installation of tools and fixtures.
  • Estimate cycle times, labor requirements and process costs through the use of time studies or other data-driven estimation techniques.
  • Coordinate validation and pre-production runs for new product releases.
  • Define and maintain critical control parameters for Statistical Process Control processes.
  • Evaluation of product issues and defects based on customer or manufacturing complaints. Identify root cause, develop and implement process-related corrective action plans per local quality standards.
  • Seek out and recommend improvements to existing processes for quality, cost or functionality.
  • Work directly with Product Engineers on design-related issues or when process changes affect submissions and approvals
  • Review, analyze and approve process deviations as appropriate.
  • Maintain project, product and process documentation in accordance with ISO requirements, execution and appropriate documentation of test procedures for Installation Qualification and Operational Qualification of manufacturing equipment.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams for large projects as the primary engineering representative.
  • Develop documentation, monitor and report on task performance as appropriate.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams for small projects as a project lead. Develop documentation such as project plans and schedules, requirements documents, meeting minutes, team communications, etc. Responsible for presenting the project at gate reviews and for final delivery of the project.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with other members of cross-functional teams and personnel in other departments in order to achieve objectives. Communicate with internal and external manufacturers regarding process design, quality and manufacturing-related issues.
  • Relies on knowledge, experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Works under general supervision with the expectation of a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Create and maintain chemical tanks following internal and external safety protocol.
  • Optimize, maintain, and perform wastewater treatment processes for the removal of heavy metals from metal finishing.

Qualifications and Skills

The minimum qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed in order to successfully perform the job.

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in engineering or other sciences
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing and/or engineering
  • Appropriate combination of education and experience may also be acceptable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T and engineering drawings
  • Problem solving/analysis
  • Technical capacity including decision making, communication and reporting
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Strong interpersonal communication skill set
  • Organizational skills
