Website Cadence

Cadence is a pivotal leader in electronic systems design, building upon more than 30 years of computational software expertise. The company applies its underlying Intelligent System Design strategy to deliver software, hardware, and IP that turn design concepts into reality.

Cadence customers are the world’s most innovative companies, delivering extraordinary electronic products from chips to boards to complete systems for the most dynamic market applications including hyperscale computing, 5G communications, automotive, mobile, aerospace, consumer, industrial, and healthcare.

We are looking for a Photonic Solutions Engineer who will drive our photonic design solutions on the front end. The candidate must have solid, hands-on experience in photonic IC design and simulation.

Main Responsibilities:

· Define customer requirements, and work with cross-functional R&D teams to drive and influence product development to meet these requirements

· Develop photonic circuit test cases for key applications (e.g., datacom, Lidars, biosensors, quantum, etc.)

· Drive photonic circuit simulation, electronic-photonic co-simulation, and system analysis

· Enhance the overall design environment and workflows

· Develop photonic process design kits (PDKs)

Qualifications:

· Master’s or PhD degree in electrical engineering, physics, or similar fields

· 3+ years of experience in integrated photonics (e.g., silicon photonics)

· Experience designing complex integrated photonic circuits, through full design cycles from simulation and layout to tape-out and to experimental characterization

· Familiarity with modern electronic-photonic design automation (EPDA) tools and workflows (familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso platform is strongly preferred)

· Experience in photonic circuit simulation, and ideally electronic-photonic co-simulation, using Lumerical INTERCONNECT, Cadence Spectre, or similar tools

· Experience using photonic compact models for passive and active devices (e.g., waveguides, couplers, phase shifters, modulators, photodetectors, lasers, etc.), in photonic-specific modeling formats (e.g., Lumerical INTERCONNECT), or Verilog-A

· Experience in physics-based photonic device simulation, including optical (e.g., using FDTD to extract S-parameters), electrical and thermal

· Programming skills in Python or other languages

· Experience in photonic PDK development is a plus

· Experience working with multiple foundries is a plus

· Experience in custom IC / analog / RF design is a strong plus
