Role Overview

Arm’s technology is used by billions of people every day. The Systems Architecture and Technology Group is responsible for exploring, developing, and driving the direction of Arm’s products in the next 3 to 5 years. As part of this group, you will play a meaningful role in understanding industry trends and developing the next generation of computing devices for the markets that we participate in, including mobile, server, networking, IoT, embedded, and automotive. This touches all aspects of computing including security, energy efficient performance, and decentralization of systems.

System architecture teams work closely with authorities across all technology groups at Arm, with our partners, and with industry associations. As an intern, you will work with expert architects to understand and advance the next era of computing systems. Activities include developing prototypes and models, evaluating prototype/model performance, developing tools, and participating in open-source projects.

Responsibilities:

Architecture defines the contract between hardware and software. As a successful Systems Architecture Intern you must have a strong curiosity in both, and a good awareness of the interaction between the two. You will have a desire to extend both the depth and breadth of your expertise.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A good understanding of computer architecture concepts and trends
  • Strong C or C++ programming skills
  • Proficiency in a high-level shell or scripting language such as Python
  • A strong undergraduate or postgraduate degree, ideally in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering, but other academic backgrounds will be considered with meaningful experience.
  • Flexibility and initiative to work with new tools
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both expert and non-expert audiences

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:

  • Working at the interface between software and hardware. For example: device driver, operating system, or compiler development
  • Knowledge of hardware microarchitecture concepts
  • Experience with performance analysis
  • Independent research experience
  • Personal projects and/or contributions to open-source projects
