Job Description
As a software engineering intern, you will be part of a small R&D team, that path-finds next-gen technologies to improve Intel’s memory and storage products and associated software stacks.

 

This position is with Storage Technologies Group (STG), within Non-Volatile Solutions Group (NSG), which is responsible for Architecting NSG’s NAND and Optane based products and for researching future directions for these products and their role in the overall computing system. In this role you’d join a R&D team of top-notch engineers setting the course for the future of persistent memory, storage and computing. You will be working closely with a cross Intel team of experienced engineers in designing and evaluating next generation memory technologies optimized for AI/ML. Your pathfinding responsibilities will include design, development, debug, experimentation-with, and analysis of core improvements to the underlying technologies.

Qualifications

 

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must be pursuing a MS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 1+ year of experience and/or coursework in the following:

Software engineering, Python and C/C++ programming skills.
Knowledge of computer architecture and operating systems fundamentals.
Knowledge and interest in the non-volatile memory and storage domain, and application of NVM technologies (esp. Intel Persistent Memory, and/or SSDs).
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Linux driver development
Knowledge of Machine Learning
Understanding of the low-level microprocessor architecture.
Knowledge of architect, design, develop, debug, experiment-with and analyze technologies at the HW/SW boundary (e.g., to be able to prototype and evaluate key technologies in software and/or OS driver domains).
Knowledge of Verilog, RTL design using an FPGA
