GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 8 is seeking a highly motivated Technician for its Chemical and Slurry Engineering and Operations team. The selected candidate will be trained to become a key member of the high purity chemical and slurry operations team and will assist on-site operations especially chemical and slurry turn on and turn off activities, chemical distribution line flush and purge activities, critical spare parts management activities, troubleshooting and continuous improvements to Chemical and Slurry Blend and distribution systems. You will be heavily engaged with our onsite Total Chemical Management (TCM) operations contract team.

In addition to your strong technical role, you must be able to work with the management team and Module Engineering to ensure constant uptime of all the systems under your area of responsibility. This individual must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal direction. Technician positions are hourly shift positions working a compressed week of 12-hour shifts.

GOLBALFOUNDRIES is a 24/7 manufacturing facility providing support across all shifts. The individual will report to the Fab 8 Manager Facilities Engineering Chemicals & Slurry and will be located at Fab 8 in Malta, New York.

Specific Responsibilities:
Be an active participant in all Facilities safety programs and help ensure compliance with all EHS
Policies and regulations by visitors, contractors, and employees of GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab8.
Assist chemical operations engineers to coordinate Chemical Turn On and Turn Off activities with manufacturing tool owners
Assist in the creation and amendment of operations and maintenance specifications and procedures

Support trouble-shooting of Chemical and slurry valve manifold boxes(VMBs) and field input and output Panels(FIOPs) to enable automatic chemical request/demand by manufacturing tools

Assist and participate in the response, investigation, and resolution of contamination or other Quality issues.

Participate in the qualification of new chemical and slurry lines or systems and the facilitation and qualification of process tools.
Partner with other Senior Technicians and Management in identifying training requirements and safety procedures in assigned specialty areas

Partner with Engineering, Staff technicians and other specialty technicians on various facilities projects including system modification and upgrade

Participation on the facilities Emergency

Response Team may be required

Perform additional duties as assigned and assist other specialty areas as required

Required Qualifications:
2 Year Technical Associates Degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semi-Conductor operations or a related discipline.

Equivalent military training / experience with a minimum of 2 years relevant facilities experience.

Certification from an accredited trade school with a minimum of 3 years relevant facilities experience

High school diploma with a minimum of 4 years relevant facilities experience
Language Fluency – Fluent in English Language – written & verbal
Ability to lift, pull and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift
Able to work in a cleanroom environment per semi-conductor protocol/requirements
Able to wear all required clean room protective clothing and equipment for normal 12 hour per day shift (excluding breaks)
Able to wear appropriate PPEs to handle chemicals (including SCBA, respirators and chemical suits
Ability to perform work in a standing position for majority of a 12 hour shift (excluding breaks)

Preferred Qualifications:

UPW / WWT operational plant experience ( 4+ yrs)
Associates Degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent experience
Demonstrated knowledge of Semiconductor FAB systems and related equipment
Demonstrated ability to operate computer programs including Microsoft Office and SAP
Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation.
Demonstrated work performance in an environment requiring a high level of attention to detail and timeliness.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities.
Demonstrated knowledge of chemical hygiene plans and hazardous waste handling
Demonstrated mechanical abilities with experience in maintenance and operation of equipment

Strong team player with ability to work well within a global team
Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be require
Advanced experience using SPC to control systems operations
Able to develop, implement and sustain preventive maintenance programs using SAP PM
Risk management experience including maintaining critical spare parts inventory and emergency service providers
