GLOBALFOUNDRIES is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer for PVD as an integral member of the Fab 10 team in East Fishkill, NY. This process engineering role develops and improves manufacturing processes used for new and existing products in GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 10. Processes and tools to be supported include those used for various metal deposition processes across all technology nodes from 180nm through the state-of-the-art 14nm technology. Shows mastery of a technical discipline and is recognized within the business unit as a senior member of a technical team. Shows Initiative and creativity resulting in high degree of innovation while showing the capacity to solve major problems of an advanced complexity within his/her area of expertise.

Essential Responsibilities:

Analyzing complex technical opportunities and then driving improvements in quality, cost, and delivery throughout the metal deposition fleet. Examples might include conducting experiments to reduce defect levels, to improve process stability (Cp/Cpk), to improve equipment efficiency, to improve product yield, to lower defect levels, to improve quality, or to reduce processing costs.
Lead and drive cost reduction actions while maintaining process quality to achieve cost competitiveness across owned processes and sector as whole.
Ensuring excellent quality controls and procedures are in place and documented for responding to quality excursions
Developing and monitoring statistical process control (SPC) metrics to improve quality
Responding to excursions, identifying points of cause and countermeasures to prevent future recurrence events
Supporting and providing guidance to the Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Sustaining Engineering Teams to resolve equipment problems including extended equipment downs, process tuning, and other tactical issues
Ensuring achievement of delivery and cycle time metric
Assisting with development of new technologies, and with the transfer of those technologies from development to high-volume manufacturing
Summarizing complex data sets for technical and nontechnical audiences
Serving as the technical interface between Manufacturing, Integration, and Development Teams
Support yield and Continuous Improvement, CIP, activities related to the Thin Films Equipment. Participate in troubleshooting, taskforces as need and help develop solutions that prevent recurrence
Continue to improve robust process for high volume manufacturing using statistical tools, DOE techniques, data driven decision making and systematic problem solving skills. Use lean manufacturing and six sigma processes.
Support startup of new equipment as well as sustain existing PVD tools.
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required Qualifications:

Education – BS Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics or other relevant engineering physical science discipline
Experience – 8 years of Process OR Equipment engineering experience on 300mm equipment
Language Fluency – Fluent in English Language – written & verbalMust have permanent right to work in the US without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

Master Degree OR PhD in Engineering or Science fields
7 years of Semiconductor engineering experience in Equipment OR Process Engineering
Experience in advanced technology (180nm or below) in 300mm factory
Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic, motivated, and self-driven
Demonstrate ability to work well within a global matrixed team or environment with minimal supervision
Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization and experience in working with external constituencies
Strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments
Familiar with 5S, 8D, 6-sigma, SPC, DOE, FMEA
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
