Functional Safety Engineer

This is a new full-time, remote-working,engineering position for candidates with academic and/or some professional experience with Functional Safety (FuSa) IC design. As a Functional Safety (FuSA) Engineer, you will drive the development of Functional Safety concepts for new IP cores targeting automotive and aviation applications. You will derive requirements for IP cores and ensure Functional Safety standards (ISO 26262, DO-254) are followed during development and verification.
This is a hands-on individual contributor opportunity with room to grow your technical expertise. You will be in direct contact with our market-leading automotive and aviation customers to understand their emerging needs and deliver solutions to support them. You will be encouraged to experiment with new ideas while driving and influencing functional safety aspects across the company.
Responsibilities
- Ensure ISO 26262 and DO-254 compliance is achieved for IP core architecture and its development (HW and SW) processes
- Develop, derive, and document safety concepts and requirements analysis for FuSa IP cores
- Conduct safety analysis, both quantitative and qualitative, on IP core designs
- Drive collaboration with third party vendors or consultants, as needed, for the development of FuSa IP cores
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is essential, and demonstrated presentation skills are a bonus.
- Interact with customers to ensure that the CAST IP cores meet the FuSa requirements of their target systems
Requirements
The successful candidate will feel comfortable discussing first-level technical aspects of our products with all levels of management, from technical design engineers to CEOs. Basic knowledge of the electrical IC design process is required. Background as a Field Applications Engineer or technical Salesperson in the electronic design world would be ideal.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Detailed knowledge of functional safety architectures, standards and procedures such as ISO26262 and/or DO254
- Experience of successful architectural through RTL design experience for functional safety compliant digital designs
- Experience with execution of FMEA, FMEDA, FTA and/or other FuSA analysis methods
- Knowledge of digital design and SoC concepts
- Fluency in English
