Job Summary:

Our client in Auburn Hills, MI is looking for a Electrified Powertrain OBD Engineer. This is a long-term contract position.

What You Will Do:

  • As an OBD engineer in the field of electrified powertrain, the primary responsibility will involve leading activities that include oversight of the respective OBD regulatory and certification documentation, methods to ensure compliance of OBD relevant systems to these requirements as well as providing technical expertise in identifying and resolving any issues in the process

What You Will Need:

  • Must be able to develop OBD II and HD OBD certification road map and requirements for US CARB certifications
  • Assemble and document required on-board diagnostics (OBD) 2 regulatory requirements for electrical components in hybrid/electric vehicle applications
  • Lead discussions as the OBD technical expert involving OBD certification requirements and compliance related topics
  • Evaluate product architecture from a diagnostics capability perspective on the basis of how it meets the OBD requirements
  • Expertise in fault diagnostics and mitigation strategies of electrical components, as well as their impact on vehicle performance
  • Experience with implementing OBD requirements in component software and hardware development
  • Strong knowledge in electric motor-inverter design aspects and key elements of comprehensive component monitoring for the same
  • Strong know-how in battery and BMS technology and associated diagnostics covering cell – module and pack diagnostics
  • Must be able to develop diagnostic algorithm requirements, design, guide implementation and testing for compliance
  • Should have experience in developing summary tables and certification documentation
  • Must have practical experience in conducting DDV, DDE and PVE testing
  • Coordinate OBD demonstration testing activities
  • Basic understanding of ISO26262 Functional safety analysis process and requirements

Preferred:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical engineering
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in transportation industry
  • Experience in using MS Office, CAN tools, Calibrations tools, Visio etc.
