Summary/Objective: The High-Speed Stamping Die Designer is responsible for designing high-speed, high precision, tight tolerance, multi-up dies to fit Bruderer presses running speeds of up to 1,400 SPM while supporting technical issues and tooling enhancements in a fast-moving production environment.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Design high-speed, high precision stamping dies, components, sub-assemblies, and full assemblies based on design standards, current steel manufacturing techniques/tolerances, and product design requirements.
- Support production needs through enhancing and upgrading existing production tools for optimal output, high quality, and fast changeover.
- Schedule tool design, fabrication, and development for new products as well as sustaining projects (e.g. capacity expansions, quality related projects).
- Work directly with purchasing, quality, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, process engineering, and other necessary groups as a cross functional team to develop products and solutions.
- Adhere to all corporate engineering standards including but not limited to documentation and file management
- Autonomously plans and schedules own daily tasks, develops solutions to problems utilizing education, experience, and judgment.
- Possibility of WFH is available.
Required Experience:
- 7+ Years’ Experience in designing High-Speed Stamping Dies is required. Experience in designing dies that average 1000spm – 1200spm is preferred.
- Must have experience of working with tight product tolerances as small as .0002”
- Past experience in Tool & Die Making and hands-on work is highly desirable.
- Experience in engineering design software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.
- Knowledge of engineering steels such as Phosphorus Bronze & Beryllium Copper.
- Must be a self-starter with strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability
- Excellent interpersonal skills in relating to both internal and external customers
- Proficient in MS Office applications: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Knowledge of engineering steels such as Phosphorus Bronze & Beryllium Copper.
- Must be able to sit for more than 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions: Must be willing to adhere to department safety rules and regulations. May be exposed to noise (required to wear protective gear). May be exposed to Hazardous Materials & Chemicals (required to wear safety glasses and other protective gear).
Education:
- High school diploma required.
- Journeyman Toolmaker a plus.
- College Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline is preferred.
Training Required:
- On the job training as appropriate.
