What does the job consist?

Within the Innovation Department and the Pilot Engineering group, the carac lab team takes care of all characterization subjects for all Innovation, on all products, all fabs and all materials. 

As part of a replacement, we are looking for a manager for this team.  Under the hierarchical responsibility of the Pilot Engineering Director, the Characterization Laboratory Manager ensures the development of a service and expertise in characterization.

Its main missions:

– implementation of Innovation department projects: align characterization roadmaps with innovation needs, exchange with suppliers, create a network of experts, participate in the extension of the characterization lab

– off-line characterization of products: ensure the completion of off-line characterizations of products in production and the associated SPC monitoring; ensure training and development of characterization, metrology and SPC expertise in the team. Establish and monitor the budget for outsourced characterizations, as well as the supplier laboratories. Ensure the industrialization of new characterizations

– laboratory management: ensuring compliance with Soitec standards on quality, 5S, safety, monitoring of laboratory equipment. Make laboratory equipment available. Manage access to the laboratory in terms of safety and authorization training, in coordination with managers who work on equipment

– development of characterizations: anticipate and support characterization requests for new products, define characterization roadmaps for the laboratory and the outsourcing. Ensure the definition and monitoring of service contracts and partnerships for the development of new characterizations

– management: manage the team’s activity, set annual objectives and carry out evaluation interviews. Identify the financial and human resources necessary to achieve its objectives, within the framework of the operational plan. Establish and implement a training and skills development plan for its staff

– reporting: ensure bi-monthly reporting to the Pilot Engineering manager (monitoring indicators, project activity, budgets, information on the team, sharing of priorities), quarterly reporting in pilot engineering

Requirements & qualifications

  • Coming from a Bac + 5, engineer or doctor, you have microelectronics industrial experience of at least 10 years including 5 years of management.
  • You are comfortable with project management, quality & problem solving tools (5S, FMEA, 8D),
  • You have in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of SOI process techniques and characterizations/metrologies in the semiconductor field.
  • You are comfortable in English
  • This position requires real skills in negotiating, creating buy-in and managing priorities. You are rigorous and you keep your commitments.
  • You are used to communicating with various people (suppliers, internal and customers)
