Summary/Objective:

The Automated Manufacturing Vision and Control Engineer is responsible for design, development, maintenance and support of automated Vision systems and software solutions used to inspect product quality.  The Engineer will also be responsible for the design, purchase, program, build and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic controls systems for automated machines.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain image processing programs used for manufacturing quality assurance using proprietary languages.
  • Design, develop and maintain software solutions using .NET technologies for the configuration and support of the automated inspection systems.
  • Assist with installation and startup of automated image processing systems.
  • Troubleshoot, provide root cause analysis and corrective actions for reported issues on current Production systems locally and abroad.
  • Assist with supporting and maintaining image processing hardware and Windows-based PC systems.
  • Develop new programs for motion controllers, robots, HMIs, PLCs, and other controls hardware.
  • Startup, debug, and qualify automated machines.
  • Work with operations and process engineering groups to design scalable control systems.
  • Reprogram existing automated machines for improvements and optimization.
  • Research and specify electrical and pneumatic control components.
  • Work closely with control hardware design group to develop electrical schematics for machines.

Required Experience:

  • 5 years of experience programming automated machines and control systems.
  • Operational knowledge of control relays, pneumatic solenoids, pneumatic controls, motion controllers, servomotors, stepper motors, etc.
  • Motion Controller, Operator Interface, PLC , Industrial Robotics programming experience.
  • Ability to implement and debug various commonly used industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, IO-Link, OPC-UA, etc.).
  • Ability to read and write other common programming languages (Basic, C++, C#, Java, Python, VB.NET, Visual Studio etc…).
  • Familiarity accessing databases using SQL Server Management Studio, Linqpad, or similar utility. Experience with database architecture and design a plus.
  • Panel building and field wiring experience is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously as priorities can change quickly.
  • Experience with image processing systems and implementations desired.
  • A quick learner: You can quickly make sense of disparate facts.
  • Curious: You embrace learning new things and like a regular challenge.
  • Thorough: You have a sense of urgency but understand that quality work can’t be rushed.
  • Organized: You enjoy variety and can manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a relevant Engineering degree.

Training required:

  • On the job training as appropriate.
