The Application Engineer is responsible for working closely with customers and prospects to demonstrate the technical and business benefits of ANSYS Discovery and manage all aspects of the presales process to meet our business goals. The Application Engineer will also work closely with sales, channel partners, product development and marketing as needed to successfully perform the above task. The Application Engineer will engage with customers and colleagues in Europe and other parts of the world to ensure global success for the ANSYS Discovery product family.


  • Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity such as customer meetings and product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations
  • Work independently to analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of a customers’ current infrastructure, operations, and engineering workflows
  • Demonstrate ANSYS Discovery to improve and expand customer engineer workflows and capabilities, in support of the software sales process; sales cycle/process will be broad and complex in nature
  • Participate in internal corporate initiatives to further enhance the ANSYS Discovery portfolio, presales/sales enablement, and professional growth
  • Responsible for articulating ANSYS’ value proposition which may encompass its entire suite of products; the presentations must affirm the sales message, differentiate ANSYS, and leave a strong and positive impression to audiences which can include senior company executives
  • Participate in creating content for marketing, training and sales enablement in support of ANSYS Discovery business goals


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical disciplines
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering design and development using commercial CAD and simulation tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English
  • Logical problem-solving approach and the ability to clearly communicate the situation and proposed solution to the customer
  • Projects a professional image and strong business acumen during customer interactions
  • Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills


  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the use of CAD and simulation as part of the design process
  • Demonstrated skills in presenting in fluent German is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of ANSYS simulation products is a plus
  • Must have passion and drive for personal technical excellence and high performance
  • Must have customer service aptitude and maintain customer focus
  • Ability to travel at least 25%
