View attachment 13018Targeting home security detectors and motion sensors with a suite of integrated analog peripherals, Renesas introduces the RL78/I1D family of MCUs. In low-power operating mode at a frequency of 1 MHz, current draw is typically 124 uA. Snooze modes allow use of several peripherals without the CPU core activated, including ability to compare A/D results to a threshold. Wake-up times have been reduced to 4usec to save more power.
The RL78/I1D family is based on a 16-bit CISC core, supported by up to 32K code flash, 2K data flash, and 3K RAM. On chip is a 12-bit A/D, a multi-channel op amp, and comparators. A data transfer controller (DTC) and event link controller (ELC) coordinate inputs while the core is in standby. Variants range from a 20 pin SSOP measuring 4.4x6.5mm, to a 48 pin QFP measuring 7x7mm. Renesas did not quote pricing, and indicates the parts are in production.
Press release:
Renesas Electronics' New Microcontroller Solution Brings Unprecedented Levels of Integration and Reduced Power Consumption during Standby Mode by Approx. 30% for Home and Industrial Sensing Systems
