In the near future I see medical data centers that accumulate information and results in diagnostics, surgery and treatment, will be the key to advancing quality and lowering cost as more and more of medical relies on ever growing data bases to advance best practices in diagnostics, surgery and treatment. The more data the AI/ML platforms can accumulated from being tied in real time to ever larger medical systems and groups, the faster these advances will become and spread worldwide at a rate previously considered impossible. Who controls and profits from this will become another question all together. This will also speed up the demand for robotic systems for diagnostics, treatments and new ways and methods of dealing with disabilities all at an ever-decreasing cost if special interests can be overcome. This should make much of medical advertising to people who have no medical training obsolete as anyone will be able to access what medical centers have the best results. It is not unreasonable to expect many people and companies to resist these changes as it is easy to see that the medical industry is heavily controlled by special interests that spend staggering amounts of money on advertising to a population that mostly has little or no knowledge and medical and treatments. I can see a Costco type business model that could improve quality and lower costs if it can overcome special interests. This presents large worldwide opportunities for the tech sector at every step from monitoring health including wearables to catch problems early to precision diagnostics too soon to be very advanced robotic surgery better than any human could ever do. Currently twenty cents of every dollar in the US goes to a medical system that has low quality rankings (37th, this was heavily laundered after my comments were published after being withheld pending approval in Barrons online comments, which finally issued approval after over a month of review). This is a multi trillion dollar market, just in the US. Any thoughts or comments appreciated.
Your vision of interconnected medical data centers driving global healthcare advancement is compelling. Democratizing medical information through AI and ML platforms holds promise for accessibility and affordability, though navigating control and profit distribution remains complex. Innovations like the Costco model could disrupt existing paradigms, fostering a future of healthcare equity.
Your vision of AI-driven medical data centers revolutionizing healthcare is compelling and aligns with trends we’ve explored in our Generative AI in Healthcare article. AI and ML are already enhancing diagnostics, treatment plans, and preventative care through continuous data analysis.
As you suggest, a "Costco model" could improve quality and reduce costs, but overcoming resistance from entrenched interests is critical. Collaboration among tech innovators, healthcare providers, and policymakers is key to ensuring equitable access and ethical use of these technologies.
With wearables, precision diagnostics, and robotic surgery advancing rapidly, the potential to transform healthcare globally is immense. It’s an exciting time for innovation, and discussions like this help shape the future.
