Overview

PragmatIC is recruiting a Senior Test Development Engineer to drive development of our automated wafer test systems. The role will be responsible for overseeing projects aiming to improve throughput, measurement reliability, and all aspects of probe cards. Reporting to the Test Development Director, this role will engage directly with the operations and product teams, providing support for probe cards, wafer alignments and introducing new hardware. They will also work closely with the ATE Software and Data teams to implement new features to reduce the cost of test.

Key tasks

  • Work with other teams to understand, control and reduce the cost of test
  • Engage with suppliers to drive probe card development activities
  • Develop probe card qualification and cleaning procedures for new probe technologies and designs
  • Work with product teams to determine the best probe technology for their use case
  • Arrange layout, review and ordering of new probe card designs
  • Develop programs in Python and LabVIEW to automatically detect and ultimately correct test issues
  • Analyse test data to determine most common equipment issues, priorities and work to address them
  • Produce reports, procedures and presentations to communicate your learnings across the company
  • Work with Test Development Director to produce a roadmap for projects to reduce the cost of test
  • Coordinate work of other Test Development Engineers

Qualifications and training

The successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree or postgraduate level in a subject such as Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Physics, or will possess equivalent experience.

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience with semiconductor production test, automated probe stations, and probe cards
  • Demonstrable knowledge of semiconductor parametric test (advantage)
  • Examples of using Python, LabVIEW or similar, to remotely controlling instruments
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and using scripting or software tools to access, manipulate and analyse data
  • Understanding of thin film electronics (advantage)
  • Hands on PCB design and layout experience
  • A strong understanding of electronics and its core principles
  • A strong ability to solve technical problems with many different variables
  • A strong ability to work to tight deadlines and progress multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Enthusiasm
