Project Director

The Project Director owns the delivery of the project and managing the customer relationship by bringing it in on time, on budget and to expected quality standards as per the customer agreement. This is a senior role with full budget (revenue and GM) responsibility, and a high level of visibility both inside and outside the organisation.
The Project Director is responsible for managing the assigned engineering project team for the duration of the project. They will require excellent people leadership, motivational and communication skills to carry out the role successfully.
They will be commercially astute to meet project key performance indicators and therefore responsible for managing costs, risks, schedules and customer satisfaction.
What you will be doing
- Define, communicate and monitor the project delivery objectives to the entire team.
- Working with Technical Leads to agree schedules, priorities, risks and dependencies.
- Understanding and tracking all of the Customer’s technical requirements as per the agreement to ensure project deliverables are met in line with financial targets and to the customers satisfaction.
- Managing the project resources responsible for the delivery of the project milestones for the duration of the project.
- Work with Sales to manage customer project changes to price and deadlines.
- Working with Technical Leads to identify issues and implementing measures to mitigate risks.
- Carry out project end reviews to ensure that feedback and lessons learned are recorded and actioned.
- Working with the Commercial Director to manage contractual commitments, monitor agreed contractual terms and deal with any variances that may arise.
- Work with other Project Directors to manage the overlap of resources to deliver projects.
Customer Relationship
- Support winning of new business by providing robust project estimations and risk analysis early in the bid/quoting process – this may be with existing or new customers.
- Engage with the client frequently, building rapport and ensuring you have a clear understanding of their objectives and are able to cascade this to the team.
- Build customer relationships to facilitate smooth project progress, change requests and dispute resolution.
