Trump launched a "tariff iron fist" against semiconductors, but TSMC is expected to be exempted. Today (7th), the Taiwan stock market bulls are in high spirits. The market closed up 556 points, and the OTC index rose 1.48%. The trading volume expanded to over 450 billion yuan, indicating strong buying momentum. Trump dropped a bombshell after the US stock market closed on the 6th, announcing a 100% tariff on imported chips, but clearly stated that companies "setting up factories in the United States" are not subject to this restriction. He also specifically mentioned that TSMC is investing $200 billion in the United States. The market interprets that TSMC's future shipments to the US market will still be exempt from the impact of tariffs. The news encouraged TSMC and also led to the opening and rising of the Taiwan stock market today.
