I am at my current position only a little over a year and always used Calibre. But the other day I heard somebody complain he could not get Dracula running anymore on the RHEL5 linux servers. We base our tool decision on which ones are best supported by the foundry's PDKs. For most of the other tasks in digital and full custom/analog we use the Cadence flow.
Before I was at my current position I was in the litho R&D group and there we also used Calibre for OPC so it was an easy switch for me.
