Engineers at MIT have developed a new battery design using common materials – aluminum, sulfur and salt. Not only is the battery low-cost, but it’s resistant to fire and failures, and can be charged very fast, which could make it useful for powering a home or charging electric vehicles.

If this battery technology works and is commercially viable, it will create entire new ecosystems. I hope the specs which I haven't seen are as good as the results already presented. If so, this could be a worldwide game changer for just about everything we come in contact with. I will try to find more information on this battery. If this wasn't MIT, I wouldn't give the report such credence. This also shows how the US is the leading discovery ecosystem in the world which is built on a free and open culture. Any thoughts, comments or additions sought and welcome.
