Intel Reports Second-Quarter 2025 Financial Results

Here’s a direct comparison of defense spending between Israel and Taiwan, using the most recent reliable data available (mostly 2024 estimates or late 2023 figures):

  • Israel spends more both in absolute terms and as a share of GDP, reflecting its ongoing regional security posture and high level of military preparedness.
  • Taiwan, while increasing spending in response to PRC pressure, still maintains a lower level of militarization, though it is rapidly modernizing.
  • Israel enjoys a higher degree of international support and indigenous military capability, while Taiwan relies more heavily on foreign procurement and asymmetric strategy.

Would you like a visual chart or breakdown over time (e.g., last 10 years)?
This is unfair. It's not the same story

Finally, someone mentions about Digital. How about Control Data, Data General, Unisys, Wang, Honeywell, NCR, Tandem, Apollo, Convex, Silicon Graphics, Sun Micro, HP, IBM and even Apple? It seems that they all went down the same path and none recovered, unfortunately.

>>> LBT, He is a cold calculated venture capitalist with no experience nor prospective of the complexity of technology development nor manufacturing.

That's exactly my point in other post. Circuit design, Cadence, is totally different from manufacturing "transistors", even both sub-fields of EE.
If LBT was from "Applied Materials", maybe that's another story.
I enjoyed reading this LBT quote from an analyst call regarding 2Q25 results:

“I am intimately familiar with the foundry and fabless ecosystem. Having helped create it over the last two decades, I am using that experience to put Intel Foundry on a more solid footing for the future. I will do so while being prudent with our capital and ensure we can deliver attractive returns on the investment we make.”
Seriously? Did LBT help create the foundry industry? I thought the only person who could make a claim like this with a straight face was Morris Chang.

when someone claims himself very very familar with the foundry business, does that imply he needs to have helped create the industry? I don't think so.

I think being the CEO of Cadence, a leading EDA firm, counts. The foundry business would not be possible without the EDA business, they developed together.

I expected Intel Foundry to flop from the get go. Intel has been half-assedly trying at it for years with pathetic results. IBM and AMD did it better. But even they had to bow out due to lack of volume.

I think Intel did a major mistake outsourcing wafers to TSMC in the first place. Any wafers including GPU wafers. And they should have went into EUV earlier. They were one of the original sponsors of ASML EUV and then ignored the technology just when it became comercially viable.
Expanding fab space with the expectation that some mystery foundry client would show up was a mistake as well.

As for Taiwan, if there is a lack of electric power you can blame the ruling DPP party which shut down the nuclear power plants. As for the KMT party talk that they are pro-PRC is a misnomer. And part of the reason why the armed forces in Taiwan are dysfuncional is that those traditionally were and are staffed by people aligned with the KMT. The DPP government does not trust the armed forces.

It's better not to underestimate him...
LBT's career should be seen
where he belonged to in the past

I judge performance by what's happening now, and everything I'm hearing and reading is not good at all. He's also seems oddly over-subscribed for someone who holds the position of CEO in a large company that was a mess before he started, and now seems even more of a mess. For example, he's executive chairman of Sambanova, a private AI products company, chairman of Walden International, a founding managing partner of Walden Catalyst, and founding managing partner of Celesta Capital, three VC firms. And that quote about helping to create the foundry ecosystem, wow. I'm always annoyed when the things I'm concerned about which I don't want to be true, look like they're coming true.

In the original comment, LBT has never said it contributed to the development of the foundry industry.

LBT only said that I've been involved in the industry for a long time.
I understand your concern...
but I believe that the great people of semiconductors are not the only ones who created the industry. There are many different people
