Buffett cut stake in TSMC by 86%

Out of curiosity has WB spoken that TSMC is a loser now just like intel and Samsung? ;)

All joking aside I think this story is overblown. Wallstreet has a proven track record of over and under valuing all things technology. Tesla or .com bubbles anyone? What about encouraging intel to reduce investment in technology leadership to get more stock buybacks and make up for the losses in mobile? Another big/obvious miss would be underestimating just how gargantuan and valuable cloud would become.

Long story short let’s not make mountains out of molehills here people. One conservative investor just opened up some liquidity in his portfolio during one of the largest economic downturn since 2008. There is nothing unusual here, this is just investing 101.

I’m confident Warren and Berkshire have a very limited understanding of the semi conductor industry. What’s more, Warren bought more apple?! How strange is that. Considering both companies are joined at the hip and TSMC is not only cheaper, growing faster and has better margins across the board. Really a head scratcher

Exiting on a peak bubble is a great idea, simple as that.

Massive retail sales reduction across the world: digits 30%-40%-60%
Massive over investments into new capacity industry wide
Semi industry is famously cyclic
Overall understanding that the industry enters another Marathon stage, where competitors will be exhausting each other
