178 Terabits/Second Fiber Optics

Working with light in creative ways, researchers have figured out ways to increase the carrying capacity of already in place fiberoptic infrastructure. It would be nice if we could develop useful applications of many technologies to unlock and greatly improve capital efficiency of financial, human and physical resources. The opportunities this speed presents for the semi/nanotech industry are many and varied. This is what is going to be needed if we are to survive on this greatly over stressed ecosystem we have created. Developing new technologies is great, but only a small part of the total equation for the challenges before us are now growing at an exponential rate.

Fred, I think you might find this interesting and I have been following for years. Any thoughts or observations are solicited and welcome. Thanks for the link, it's appreciated.

Very interesting, would like to get more details on it, thanks!

At the Optalysys site, they have some very good videos with excellent explanations of the mechanics of the process. Let me know what you think.
