Inside Intel’s new Arizona fab, where the chipmaker’s fate hangs in the balance

Are you talking about this?: "Chandrasekaran told CNBC that Fab52 is capable of more than 10,000 18A wafer starts per week." Capable has a internal definition... we can discuss what it means offline. 1) Fab 52 cannot currently start 10K wafers per week. (They would start, but they would pile...

Can Intel recover even part of their past dominance?

I think you misinterpret decisions required due to failure with poor strategy. No company, including Intel can do what ever it puts its mind to. As I have said before, Intel was a leader in Mobile strategy, GPU strategy, AI accelerator strategy. Cost effective execution was the weakness. Intel...

Can Intel recover even part of their past dominance?

Wow. So Intel is now designing for others to not use IFS.

Can Intel recover even part of their past dominance?

That was my understanding in the past. Broadcom revenue to TSMC was from Google orders. Google may consign the HBM. But it sounds like Google is directly working with TSMC? So Intel is still doing design for Google on TSMC or Google skipped Intel?

Can Intel recover even part of their past dominance?

Interesting. So then TSMC Revenue from Broadcom should be dropping and Google Increasing, correct? I have worked on partnerships like this and who recognizes revenue and when and who holds inventory is always part of the deal.

Can Intel recover even part of their past dominance?

So do google and amazon make their own chips. Or do they give Inputs to Broadcom who tapeout their chips to TSMC? Historically when I worked on HDD/SSD controllers, the SSD company provided some custom logic but 70%+ was from Broadcom/LSI/Marvell. Side note: If they have a ASIC with HBM, I...

How "fungible" are memory maker fabs for switching between memory types?

Other than HBM they are similar. but the Chip designs are different so its a wafer start issue (Assume cycle time from start to package chip ship of 5 months). HBM is a modified process of a given node. then there is the real issue of backend assembly and packaging (no flex with DDR) Another...

Panther lake has not shipped any sku yet. And there are reports that they are starting to ramp now. The paper launch is now planned for January? Intel announces risk production of 18A in April 2025 as manufacturing ready. What happened? we are talking about 90K production wafers? When will...

Trump to allow certain Nvidia chip sales to China for 25% U.S Gov cut

100% agree. The correct response to tariffs is to [legally] change the the supply routed. I can give a top 10 list of LEGAL tricks used to do this. Also, I do not know why multiple politicians say prices overall should come down or have come down. If prices overall drop, it is VERY BAD time...

Trump to allow certain Nvidia chip sales to China for 25% U.S Gov cut

I thought inflation would skyrocket, trade would collapse, tech market would collapse. (all Macro, not Micro) Tech industry did not collapes.... it boomed. Global trade did not collapse. What is inflation rate currently. what is inflation on tech goods? Let me know what the numbers are...

Intel and Tata Electronics forge a $14B alliance to power India’s chip revolution

As I have mentioned before. People have been talking about Fabs in India for years. There are very clear reasons why it has never happened. I have discussed this with clients and they agreed. 1) Buld a Large OSAT plant (Simple, flip chip or wirebond.... and simple logic or memory test. get it...

Trump to allow certain Nvidia chip sales to China for 25% U.S Gov cut

trump is using bullying power to provide government funding. I am a free trader so I hate it, but I have to admit that I am shocked about the lack of negative impacts from these crazy policies.

Amazon EC2 Trn3 UltraServers powered by AWS's first 3nm AI chip

This and Googles plans are very interesting. Do these replace Nvidia GPUs? or augment them? Any idea on how many trainum units are made per year?

The US is taking a stake in a chip startup led by Intel's ousted CEO

not sure i would call this a chip startup. They make "LASERS" [imagine Dr Evil Voice] they have a plan to make a part that could go into a tool that patterns wafers for companies who make chips. Is there a Company planning to test this? ASML? Nikon? Canon?

TSMC formally sues ex-SVP over alleged transfer of secrets to Intel
