We wont let America sell to China. We will heavily tax everything made in ASIA
Less revenue by American companies, Higher prices for Americans, Less choice of tech items by Americans.
Win-Win-Win
In 10 years, we could maybe put in infrastructure to do tech in US. So we just have 9 years and 11...
@Daniel Nenni . @siliconbruh999
Intel is one of TSMCs top 6 customers in 2025 I believe
Intel external wafer sales are <1B per year in 2025. not a top 10 foundry in 2025
Intel 18A works very well from what I hear. The problem I am guessing is that the MOR output/tool is lower than expected...
Is it really a competition between Intel and TSMC? Intel pushed TSMC to deliver faster.... and they did. how do you think N2 wafer volume will compare to Intels external 18A volume in 2026? @Daniel Nenni: when does a design on 18A need to start in order to be high volume in 2027? is it too late?
Even simpler: If a PC is shipped to the US. Is they tariff based on COO or % content by country.???? Is a Intel wafer made in US, tested and packaged in Vietnam pay a tariff. Surely someone knows????
they have a wheel of fortune at the SFO customs warehouse... Spin the wheel ........ wait for it.....Oh.... you landed on BANKRUPT .... So sorry! Thanks for playing, we have some nice parting gifts for you.
If I was in my old job I would be working 16 hours a day to on a plan so that nothing is ever shipped to the US. We did this before when they had all the nonsense about repatriating money and taxes. I would also buy a large warehouse at the Singapore airport.
US Customs people must be going...
I saw multiple articles saying "Intel Announced or Tan Announced JV"..... I also saw weird combinations of old and new news. I am pretty sure AI is writing these articles. Kinda like the AI summaries this week saying "China has import Tariffs of 67% on US goods entering the country".... which is...
That is interesting
LBT: "Christy this is what we need you to do"
Christy: "are you kidding? I am not doing that... people will protest at my house, I will be chased in the streets"
LBT: "Ok let me know who your replacement will be by mid April"
MInority stake in a JV doesnt necessarily mean they share fabs, IP, anything. It would give IFS cash needed to survive and and TSMC would benefit somewhat if IFS prospered.
Its not a unfounded rumor, but these often fall through due to lawyers objecting to control and liability and arguments...
The proposal might not be quite what people think it is. Wait for the details before deciding who wins and loses.
If TSMC "buys into" the new JV holding company, that would be TSMC investment in the US.
While @Daniel Nenni wants an alternative to TSMC, Trump just wants manufacturing in the...
@nghanayem
""10K is half of a modern logic fab. D1 is like 5 modern TSMC fabs in size (with 6 being a "gigafab" 100K+ WSPM). Granted, a development fab isn't fully optimized for maximum wafer outs, but let's say 50% for development and 50% for HVM, 20K WSPM for 5 fabs. No way. Way too small...
I would expect some executives to be replaced (they "retire" or deal with "personal health") . 3 TSMC execs and 3 Nvidia execs would be a nice start.
FYI: Pat tried to get a lot of people hired on over the past 3-4 years.... I talked to some of them.... they turned Intel down.
How many 18A wafers were they running before risk production and how many now? 5K per month? 10K?
Risk production is very important to cost accounting and expense allocation
What percentage of Intel wafers today are 7nm or older? Does Raptor Lake outsell meteor Lake? How does Granite Rapids volume compare to sapphire/emerald?
It is hard to ramp a new fab and be cost effective. When the process is very expensive, it is even harder
what do you think the wafer cost...
I dont know the cost for panther lake but it is not obvious to me it is cheaper while 18A is ramping. If you know it is cheaper unit cost than LL and ARL then Intel margins will go up and costs go down when 18A ramps.
the bigger issue might be finance
I lease my office because I cannot...
LIfetime revenue is what you always say when you are a start up getting design wins with no revenue. I have said it many times. Just not with an established company
Intel also said they expect 15B in ANNUAL Revenue by 2030. Intel planned 6+ new fabs and now plans 1. Its hard to recover from...
